Eagle Eye Golf Course: A New Era in Parkland

The Eagle Eye Golf Course is an iconic part of Parkland's landscape, but its history began long before its current identity. In 2011, the Heron Bay Golf Course closed due to financial struggles and management challenges. The course had become too expensive for the company to maintain, leading to its sale to North Springs Improvement District (NSID), a public water provider serving over 40,000 residents in Coral Springs and Parkland.

Before its closure, the golf course was offered to the Heron Bay Association at a price of $3 million, giving residents the option to decide what to do with the land. However, this opportunity was declined, and the site has since undergone significant changes. In 2018, the City of Parkland partnered with NSID, Emporium Architecture Firm, and the City of Coral Springs to revamp the area into a new entertainment, dining, and retail center.

While a substantial portion of the land will be dedicated to a Storm Water project, a small parcel was put up for sale to accommodate development. The community has been abuzz with discussion about what should happen with the former golf course site. With its rich history and prime location within Heron Bay Parkland's 220-acre development, the Eagle Eye Golf Course is poised for a new era of growth and revitalization.

As we look ahead, it's clear that this transformation will have a lasting impact on the community. With over 22% of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students hailing from Heron Bay, the surrounding area plays a significant role in the school's population. The Eagle Eye Golf Course's new iteration promises to provide additional amenities and opportunities for residents, ensuring its continued importance as a hub within Parkland.
